REALLY stupid question....socks with boots

I never found any advantage to wearing boots at work. I got some when I first came on because everyone else did. But after about a year, I chucked them and got shoes. They were more comfortable and lighter, making it easier to do a foot chase. I could do anything in shoes that others did in boots.

This is very true. For us however it is required uniform that if we wear our rough duty uniform we have to have the high top boots on and the pants must be bloused. Plus we also work around a lot of cargo and the rail road yards and such so boots are a plus, especially steel toe and shank protected!

When I wear boots, I wear taller socks. Most of mine are Wigam, Thorlos, 5.11s or some other smart-wool, moisture-whicking sock. I learned early on in basic training for the army to take care of the feet. That reasoning has served me well through a lot of crap.
