My daughter has had both and says she prefers Direct TV. I just dropped Comcast and went with Dish Network, mostly because they gave me the best deal. I haven't had any problems with it so far and we get a lot of rain and clouds. I get a lot more channels for my money than I did with Comcast, but everything seems to work a little slower. For instance, it has to download the guide info periodically and that seems to take a long time. With cable, it was always there.
Apparently, I'm supposed to be more angry about what Mitt Romney does with his money than what Barack & Michelle Obama do with mine

I used to have Dish Network but if it snowed, rained heavily, or got a little too windy the signal would get lost. I have Charter Cable and I never have a problem with the signal. Their prices aren't the greatest but I get high speed internet. :D

I just switched from Dish to Cox because I am moving this weekend. I liked Dish, the price was good since I had a bundle of internet, phone, and cable. Only problem I would experience was that in very bad thunderstorms, I would lose reception. That sucked.

I actually worked for a short while for Dish TV. I had Direct TV right before that... If I had to choose, I would go with Dish TV. They have more options available, and I liked what they did for you. The cost was not too bad either, compared to cable. I am now stuck with Comcast. Since I mostly watch movies anway, it does not matter much to me. As long as my internet works.

I just heard a nasty rumor. A guy here at work told me that you have to pay "$5 rent" for all the receivers you have. So if you get the standard 4 rooms you pay an extra $20 per month

Anyone know if this is true?

Direct has some good plans but when you throw $20 on top of it they're not so good anymore

    DirecTv FTW.

My service came with 3 recievers. I pay 5 bucks a month for the fourth one.

I have one receiver hooked up to two TV's with Dish. I can still watch different channels on each and the receiver and the DVR are free.

Comcast charged something like 12 bucks a month for a DVR.

The decision has been made. I went with Dish :D

It just happened that I got a really good deal on my home phone, internet, & Dish through AT&T.

My appointment is scheduled for Saturady :D

It will be nice to have the NFL network ;)

I'll let everyone know how I like it.

One other thing that keeps me with my cable is that I've heard via an independent news article that despite all of the hoopla surrounding the 2009 digital switch over that says if you have cable you don't need to worry, the article says that most of the smaller cable systems will not switch over at the source, while mine... Comcast ... will be.

It means that all of my channel line up will stay the same, while many others will be forced to reprogram or buy the separate boxes for their tuners.

I doubt this will affect dish people, since they already have new tuners and the dvr's to go with them. I have 3 tv's and 3 dvr's, and only one of the tv's is digital ready.

I'm interested in how the changeover will affect my Tuner in my XP Windows Media Computer. It probably won't, but I have the cable disconnected to it anyhow... long story/different topic. ;)
