Jason Newsted was born and raised around here. Every once in a great while you would see him over by Gull Lake with old friends.
He left after the Napster incident didn't he, so maybe it wasn't supported by the whole band.
The whole Jason Newsted issue is a tough one. Throughout his years in the band, he was shunned because the other members picked him to replace their bass player (the one who wrote the lyrics in my sig) that died in a tour bus crash. He was a great bass player, and did leave after Napster, but I feel he supported that move as well.
His whole reason for leaving is weird, and nobody knows the exact truth. He really acted poorly after leaving by publicly slamming Metallica, and then supporting them again. I saw him in concert with Ozzy and he was great. I still respect Jason Newsted. Have you ever met him Orleander?
And the reason I want to see Metallica is because they are my musical idols, and I respect them as people as well.

I get giggly stupid when I meet people like that. I don't even try anymore. Umm, I have the looks to meet guys like him, but not the age/lifestyle anymore. Oh, I've only seen him from afar at Gull Lake. Seen him on the lake and at a party.Originally posted by metallicat

Trust me, if I had the financial resources and no school or job to worry about, I would be travelling with the band.
I understand O. They sell club memberships for Metallica, and then a few members get backstage passes for every show, and I don't know what I would do if I got to meet the guys. It would be ridiculous.

I am going to show my age here but I saw them twice on the "And Justice For All" tour and thought they were great. I really got into their earlier stuff, "Ride the Lightening" and "Master of Puppets" and of course Justice. I heard Newsted left because Hetfield was getting wasted way too much and so Newsted quit and Hetfield went into rehab and then they got the new bass player. What I love about Metallica, and I used to tell this to people I knew back in the 80's is that Metallica's music will stand the test of time...unlike the hair bands (Warrant, Poison et al) Metallica's music is just not your average stupid pop music, it is what used to be called "mental metal" meaning the songs make you think.
10-7....for now
Going to the Justice tour would have been amazing!

March 23rd is the official date! I gotta start counting down the days. Or maybe I will start that if I get tickets. They go on sale next Saturday, and will likely sell out in about 10 minutes.
