    Child after Death

I just read of a young woman who's husband was hurt in an accident. When they declared him brain dead she had his sperm harvested so that she could have his child. Yes, he had signed an organ donor card, but sperm is not an organ.

I know I would come back from the grave and kill my husband if he ever harvested my eggs, hired a surrogate and had another child of MINE. I find it appalling and unethical.

And that's how I feel about that! :p

I don't know. If my husband and I had planned on having children, and that had happened, I don't think he would be that upset that I harvested his seed. As in my faith, that is the point of marriage anyway. However, I wonder though, if I had had the child after/if he had died would that child not recieve the grace? Would it be a child out of wedlock.

I really only see it working in this instance. Not the other way around though. I am not sure if grace goes that far. LOL

It's in my living will and regular will. My wife can have sperm harvested for future insemination of she chooses, if we are still married at the time of my death/injury.

Uhhh, ok. Well, I think they are legally man and wife until she remarries. I know Robert Kennedy had a daughter after his death..Rory I think her name is.

I predict a girl getting made fun of in school based solely on her name. LOL.

This is a good topic O.

I think I may know the answer to my question. Though, my beliefs are that man and women are husband and wife until one dies, if they have a true marriage. She has to divorce the guy before she can remarry I think legally, unless polygamy is allowed.

I think her last name spoke louder than her first. ;)

Yeah, but kids won't care about the last name. They will be more concerned with the fact that it sounds like Scooby Doo named her. "Rory Raggy" = "Sorry Shaggy" :D

It doesn't say that in her will/living will. Plus, any baby she has from harvested sperm will be ours and ours alone. Any baby I have with harvested eggs woudl require a 3rd person.

    "Till death do us part"
So technically they are no longer married. As for Robert Kennedy, his wife became pregnant while he was still alive, so that's different.

As long as she doesn't remarry - retains his last name - then the child would have his last name. If his estate is left in his wife's care, then the progression woud be his earthly treasures would pass on to his child after death. Does that sound right? I think this is what I mean. Damm confusing stuff. Where the heck is our resident lawyer when ya need him? OHHHHhhhhhh DC?
