    opps! forgot to introduce myself

    Hi y'all

I found your little world in my quest to keep myself busy during my off hours. So far everyone seems to possess quite a bit of knowledge. Hopefully I can learn a thing or two.

Me? I am a Deputy in Northern Nevada and have been here for about 3 years. I am a Chef by profession but couldn't enough money at it so I decided to do it on the side for extra cashola. The Deputy gig allows me to show my evil twin anyway.

Back to the trailer for me. Some of the tin foil is coming off of my windows. I have to keep clear of those alien signals pointed directly at me. You know how it is.

    :D

Art Bell , long time late night radio talk show host on AM radio. If it is weird, has to do with aliens, ESP etc, he has people who are specialists about these subjects from his show. And he is from Nevada somewhere.

It is Coast to Coast radio, I think he was off for a while and just got back on during the weekends.

We're happy to have you with us. Hell, I wish you lived closer, being a chef and all. And, BTW, there are a few of us on here that tranplanted from other professions... before I started gun-totin' I did lab work in a cancer research lab, believe it or not. That feels like a lifetime ago now!

I like the cop gig, but if I could actually make a living, a chef is actually a pretty fun job. (outside of the casinos and cruise ships) Most casinos are sweat shops though. Work your butt off for $20. an hour. What is worse is the cruise ships. Not only do they don't pay squat, no one speaks english. (and being the redneck American, I don't speak any other language except redneck english).

What type of education do you have? Must be quite a change going from a cancer lab to law enforcement.

I studied molecualr bio. In fact, I even have smoe papers published. I specialized in protein isolation and characterization, specifically with a protein called the NADH Oxidase enzyme. I had a couple MOSes in the Army National Guard and then ROTC. Combine that with some good timing and I am just as happy as a pig in... well, you know what I am saying. And, amazingly enough, that was almost 8 years ago. I'd have it no other way.

Hey ya Hi & welcome and all that gooey stuff. How did ya decide to go from a pastry cutter to a poliice cruiser? Other than the $$.

I had a friend who was also a chef talk me into it. He is now doing other things as he washed from probation. I don't think I would like this job if I had to put up with the big city crap. I don't know how some of you handle the politics and garbage you have to deal with. The desert suits me fine. I just hope I don't eat it along some lonely highway. I do think that is highly unlikely though.

Your brother studies the NADH oxidase enzyme??????

Most bio majors I graduated with knew little more about the enzyme than the fact it is invloved with the citric acid cycle.

....sorry for the "nerd talk"... it's been a while.
