O.K. I've been up for the last two nights because one of my cats is in heat. She keeps meowing really loud and wanting 100% attention. The only time that I can get her to stop meowing is if I rub her butt.
Don't mean to gross anyone out but I'd thought just let you know how my last few nights went.

She will be in heat for an average of 3-5 days. Do not let her outside. Then take her to the Vet to be sterilized - it isn't fair for both of you to have to endure this.

Same thing happened to me with a cat I had years ago. I thought that she was too young to go into heat (5mo) but she obviously wasn't. She howled all night. The next day I took her to the vet. It was a Friday before along weekend so I had to pay for her lodging for the whole weekend. They wouldn't operate on her till the following Tuesday. I had to pay about $40. extra because she was in heat.

I had a cat in heat for 2 weeks, and barely got a wink of sleep the entire time! Its one of the worst sound in the world.

I've only had one female kitty, and that is TommieGirl.. she was in heat when I first got her, but she made the cutest little mews. I love the way she cries. However, I remember the female neighborhood kitties howling outside the window looking to get some from the boy kitty I had.

Oh man, I've got a great remedy for this.....whenever the girls have a noisy toy that begins to lose it's batteries, it signals out pretty obnoxiously. Some of them, you can't get open because it requires a screwdriver or other tool that isn't always readily available in our home. So, the toy continues to beeep...beepbeepbeepbeeep beeepbeep beeeepbeeep....
It's VERY annoying, much like a cat mewing through the night when it's in heat. Let me just tell you what works for me...stick the toy/cat in the freezer. I can assure you that you CANNOT hear the dying battery of the toy from outside the freezer. It's virtually airtight. I know this'll help you get a better nights rest. Let me know if it works.

Today has been much better with her. Monday I am going to get an appointment to get her spayed.
