    Big "Buck" Contest

Any other Michiganders going Deer hunting November 15th, the opening day for firearm deer season?

If so lets post pics of who gets the biggest deer as far as antlers go.

I am leaving for up north today, hunting in Alcona County, and won't be back until probably Tuesday the 18th.

So if I bag my buck I'll post a picture here. Good luck to all you hunters, stay safe and warm in the woods. Although I have not got a deer in about 4 years

Guess I got to get out of bed early enough!! As the song goes... (Sung to the Yoopers.)
Its' the second week of deer camp and all the guys are here, we drink, play cards and shoot the bull, but never get no deer. The only time we leave the camp is when we go for Beer. It's the second week of deer camp the greatest time of year.

I will join in, as soon as someone here decides to shoot one. They have been out for weeks and still nothing...I think they just can't shoot a bow and arrow ;)...He He...Maybe they will have better luck tomorrow.

Good Luck Dep. Bring us some pictures back!

Good luck Dep! I haven't been hunting in many years. I don't know anyone with private land where I can hunt on. And besides, I killed a 9 point wall hanger my third hunting trip out so I guess I got spoiled.

    my biggest one for now

I have been hunting for about five years and need to add on to my room just to hold all of my deer heads. First time hunting a killed a 12 point buck that weighed in at 256 pounds field dressed, it was the second largest in the county that year. I also have two 8 pointers and a seven on the wall and my dad has a 5 on his bedroom wall. My shotgun hunting does not start till november 21,22,23. I have a pretty good idea of were a biggg buck is, getting it is another story. Have fun!!

How long have you been bow hunting? I don't hunt, but I imagine if I knew how to work a bow that bow hunting would be fun.

Pops made sure I had a bow at a young age, 12 and I started hunting with it seven years ago. Bowhunting is a blast, to know you have to get so close to the animal and don't have the option most the time for a second shot makes the adreniline run for sure! Most of my sucess in the past have been with firearms though, nice to be able to glass from your truck and hit a deer from 100+ yards..........
I've also shot in compitition, Pops was Hawaii state champ three years in a row. I think you'd make a great bowhunter if you wanted.

Bears are really afraid of humans that's why they are dangerous so you have to be a step or two ahead of the bear. Last week I was in my treestand for 2 days and a night, bears were coming down but I wasn't high enough in the tree so I was busted. You better make sure you put that arrow where you meant it or tracking a wounded bear will be something you don't want to do.
I like late season best, everything is wet and quiet..... I'm almost out of here!
