I can't remember what the night before Halloween is called, but it has a name. (it isnt Cabage (sp) night where Im from like dan said.
I used to sit out on my back deck with my brother and two huge spotlights that we had. Our back yard was right up against a huge feild that connected to a school field and was used by many kids to transit through to get to the local shopping center, which would make our house and our neighbors a prime target for eggs. So when we heard an egg hit the house I would hit the spotlights and aim them right at the kids while my brother tried to peg them with eggs. We wanted to use BB guns but never had the gonads to do it.
Don't take life so seriously, you're not gonna get out of it alive anyway!
In our town you can also take the stuff to the hospital and they will X-ray it.Originally posted by gdowkpc

But I have to wonder if this is a urban ledgend or if it has ever really happened?
Just remembered we called it Hell night.

We always threw bales of hay onto main st. (little town pop. 2400) Then we quit when someone started setting them on fire.
We usually have a group that deals with Devil's Night patroling the city to help the police out. The pranks have been to a minimum that past few years. This group is of course larger for Detroit.
Here's what we do :D
Public Notice:
Over the past few years Chico has become infamous for Halloween activities. Unfortunately, there have been too many instances of stabbings, property damage, injuries, and dangerous crowd control problems. The Chico City Council, with support of the community, CSU, Chico, the Chico Police Department, and Chico’s tavern owners have joined together in a collaborative effort to stop the abuse and violence in downtown and the west side areas of Chico. If you plan to visit Chico during Halloween, be aware the City of Chico will NOT have the event activities of the past (unruly crowds of up to 20,000).
What you can expect on Halloween Night:
Extensive law enforcement presence with a zero tolerance for criminal and traffic violations.
- Many Sobriety check Points encompassing the west side and downtown areas.
- Long traffic delays.
- Downtown parking lots will be closed.
- No out-of-town guests allowed in CSUC, on-campus housing during Halloween.
- No street closures, no portable toilets, and no extra lights will be available.
- Restricted traffic flow.
- Fine for public intoxication up to $1,000 and 6 months in jail.
- Fine for driving under the influence (car or bicycle) plus jail time, mandatory drug treatment program, and suspension of your driver’s license. Your vehicle can be impounded.
- Fine for public urination, plus having to return to Chico for community service hours.
- Fine for possession of open container and having glass in the “no glass” zone.
- Minors in possession of alcohol will result in a fine and loss of driver’s license.
- If you are arrested, you will go to jail.
- Fine for all traffic violations for vehicles and bicycles.
When I was in elementary school ( I don't remember if it was 4th or 5th grade) I took a bite out of a mini snickers bar (one I received while trick or treating) and got a mouthful of staples.Originally posted by Orleander

Orleander -
It DEFINITELY happened. It was popular especially during the 70's.
Around here they call it Gate Night.

I just didn't know if it happened and got reported, or someone made it up, it became 'truth and' then someone did it.
How big of a crime is it to tp someone's house?
Here in Texas, it's a pretty serious crime. You can get shot for it.Originally posted by Orleander

No. I'm not joking...
Sec. 9.42. Deadly Force to Protect Property
A person is justified in using deadly force against another to
protect land or tangible, movable property:
(2) when and to the degree he reasonably believes the deadly
force is immediately necessary:
(A) to prevent the other's imminent commission of arson,
burglary, robbery, aggravated robbery, theft during the nighttime,
or criminal mischief during the nighttime;
...and
(3) he reasonably believes that:
(A) the land or property cannot be protected or recovered by
any other means; or
(B) the use of force other than deadly force to protect or
recover the land or property would expose the actor or another to
a substantial risk of death or serious bodily injury.
So basically...If it's nighttime and the TP'ers have weapons that make you afraid, you can shoot them.
I'd like to see what would happen if someone actually did kill someone for it though.
