    Sure, not in a PARADE.

Try that when you're by yourself and in any mid-sized town or better.

Plus, you go walking into a place of business, and I mean like a diner or a grocery store, they're gonna freak in most places.

If i was independantly wealthy and could afford to just keep going to the local jail all the time, I might try it and keep photocopies of the law to pass out.

But I don't need that much hassle.

So IF I were ever to carry a weapon, which I'm sure I never would, I would conceal it and nobody is going to know, unless I choose to pull it out.
And frankly, if I pull it out, I have bigger problems than a concealed carry charge.

I had that happen to me in Akron about 8 years ago. To this day I don't think that dumbass is even remotely aware that he was one heartbeat away from dying.

Ohio law does not illegalise open carry, therefore open carry is legal. People can and do get detained for inciting panic etc, which is the very basis of the lawsuit to gain injuctive releif against presecution under the concealed carry ban.

The supreme court ruled against the suit, so concealed carry is still illegal.

There is a seperate house bill to amend the concealed carry law to make Ohio a shall-issue state, however it's stalled because the senate passed an amended version and they have yet to reconcile the differences.

Well Eric, Atlanta qualifies as a mid size city or better. I carry into banks, diners, the dry cleaners, grocery stores and yet have not had problem one. Maybe im just lucky, or maybe its a regional thing, but I have been doing this for ten years.

Yeah, saw that on glocktalk and the high road. The police sometimes dont know when the law changes and thats not their fault. It takes time for the word to trickle down.

    Norm,

    We're talking about Ohio.

And Klein -v- Leis was not a law *change*, it was a *clarification*. These officers should have known the law already - if the guy hadn't argued Klein v Leis then they'd have probably written him up for Inciting Panic or whatever.

There is, and to my knowledge has never been, a law in Ohio illegalising the open carry of firearms. The fact that open carry is legal is why Ohio's constitution, Article 1 "The people have a right to bears arms in their defense and security" is satisfied by Ohio law. The basis of the lawsuit was that people excercising their constitutional rights under article 1 were being arrested on whatever charge the cops could get them on simply to get them off the streets. Just like in the story I posted - even after the cops 'learned' it was legally correct for him to carry his gun, they still pressured him off the streets. A fundemantal violation of the constitution - so either let him carry openly without interferance, or change the constitution.
