RCMP Auxillary

I'm just about to leave the house and go on a ride along with the RCMP from 8pm-2am. This is the first step in becoming an auxillary constable with them, they said that they want me to ride with a couple of guys so that they can see if I'm a psycho or not before I fill out an app. So I'll let you guys know how it went and if there was a lot of excitment. RN I think you're an auxillary is this what they had you do too?

Ok lets see where I start, how about the beginning. First off I waited outside of the station for 1/2hr for someone to let me in. I think they were doing briefing or something (talking), then I was let in and we just sat around and talked for about an hour. In this area they had 3 guys working for a population of about 15,000 or so, and the actual area is huge, my guess is 30 miles east west and 20 north to south.

The guy I was with was stationed in town so thats where we stayed for the most part. We pulled over a couple of folks who were either driving a bit erratic or just acting suspicous. Got one guy who had a warrent out for driving without insurance, so we just had him come down to the station and sign some promise to appear papers and let him go.

And then more sitting in the station working on some paperwork and talking, then went and got something to eat. One other fellow went down to a big wedding party and found a guy passed out in his truck so they tried to wake him but he was out cold. They waited for the tow truck to arrive so that he could slim jim the car, which he was having a hard time doing so he tried putting the wire up the guys nose and in his ear but still no luck. I guess they must have got the door open eventually because he was arrested and brought down to spend the night.

Near the end of the shift there was a call for an assault at a bar in a town that is on the far end of the area that these guys cover so we went out there and found a bar full of drunk people, imagine that! So I'm not sure what happened there but no one was taken to jail.

And thats about it, it was a lot of fun and I cant wait to do it again. And Norm sorry this is socialist Canada, where they only let cops carry guns, not bad innocents like me;)

Yep just east of calgary

How come I thought you were in the RCMP already? When I first came to this site, I kind of remember you saying you were stationed in Cochrane or something?

Nope, I live east of Calgary and I was planning on applying to the RC's but have not yet. I dont think I would be accepted due to my poor hearing on one ear. Sorry for the confusion

My question was do the Aux Constables carry arms? I cannot imagine policing unarmed. :rolleyes:

Nope sadly they do not, they just ride along with regular members and help out with small things, and yes it does suck not being able to carry a gun
