Who in here studies martial arts?

unfourtunatly I have had to use my skills more than once but always in the defense of others, the last time it was because my brother who has had to run from the cops before, due to his temper, smacked my mom, I warned him, he kicked at me and then I had him pinned witha teflon coated tacticle folder to his throat(he is very large and strong, formal football player) eventually he callmed down and left.

I thank I read that already. IMO, if you need a knife to restrain your unarmed brother, you need to sharpen your skills. Perhaps take an art that will skill you in joint manipulation/pain compliance.

when I say he is huge I mean it, on top of that he had an adrialin rush going, if you have ever seen that eppisode of cops where the perp was being hit by three tazers and still kept going i mean ripped them out like they were bees, thats about how my brother is
now to be clear, I would never actually use a leathal weapon on an unarmed person(stab cut shoot ect.)i would toss it aside and pop em in the throat or solar plexis first but like I said, this was an escallating situation and I was using the dull side of the blade in a hold

Ok. But be careful brandishing a knife on a huge, pumped up guy like you describe. They tend to hurt when being inserted in your rectum after being taken away from you.

I studied Taekwondo with a little hapkido mixed in. Once I finish academy (and maybe FTO), I intend to start Aikido, Hapkido or Juijitsu.

The only reason I used the knife in the first place was because the last couple of times he attacked her things ended very badly, the first time he broke her arm and the second time he beat her in the head with a duffle bag full of books( i takled him he got in a couple of punches and i held his wrist, my mom called the cops and he broke free and ran) so when I pinned him using the knife (as a bluff) he callmed down and left. no one received any injury and he hasn't done it again since.

I practiced Tae Kwon Do and Hap Ki Do for about 8 years and I am now looking into Krav Maga

Jail would do that b@st@rd some good. When he beat her with the book bag it was because she got McDonalds when she got off work (didn't even know he was home) and didn't bring him any.
