    When is EXHAUSTED too exhausted?

How many hours per week can you peeps work without being TOO exhausted? Do you get wired when you are pooped or do you just crash out? How long can you work without a crash and burn?

I'm asking because in between working a stressful job MANY hours per week, teaching a few classes and normal everyday other responsibilities, I get WIRED FOR SOUND! I had a four hour class tonight and I am ready to PARTAAAAY!!!! But since I have to get up at 4:30am, I think I'll take a nice hot bath and try to sleep. Saturday mornings I sleep until 7:30am. That's good enough for me.

    How about you all?

Some days i can keep going and survive on 4 hours sleep, but about once every 10 days or so, I sleep for about 10 or 12 hours. Working day shifts, 0800 starts, really wear me out. I function a lot better on arvo shifts, 1600 or later starts.

Damn, I know what you mean, Dave. I die every couple of weeks for at least a half day. Those are days I don't even remember my dreams.

I know that I need to sleep when I lose my ability to speak in grammatically correct. Once I have breached that point I mix my verbs with adjectives and nouns with adverbs. Although it is hard to work or study, it does make for some interesting conversations.

When I'm really tired, I sometimes miss complete words or use a wrong word. Only started since my stroke though so I can't complain too much if that is the only real long term effect.

That was the reason I left homicide. We just about always worked 24 hours or more straight after we were called out. And then just get a few hours sleep and hit it again. That first period of time is the most crucial in solving it. When I was younger, it wasn't that bad. I could get one good night's sleep and I was up and running again. But as I got nearer to 50, it took me over a week to recover and actually feel decent again.

I can remember sitting at my desk a few times, trying to read an affidavit I just wrote and not being able to understand my own words. Then it was time to go home for a while. I guess the ideal period of time is work there is when you're old enough to be experienced enough, but young enough to handle the hours.
Apparently, I'm supposed to be more angry about what Mitt Romney does with his money than what Barack & Michelle Obama do with mine

At least 85% of the stress in my life went away as soon as it hit home that I was never going back there again. I had absolutely no idea that the job was that stressful.

I usually have to have one day a week where I catch up on sleep, 9-10hr+. The other nights I can get by with with about 5 or 6 hours comfortably.

I am about one of the busiest people you will ever meet...so when people ask me what my favorite hobby is...I say SLEEP!
