It varies and a lot of the time, it depends what is coming up next.

Ie, last Friday, it was 10-11 AM, I had been up since 1500 the previous day, and was tired, batteries fading when I was checking on some dive things. Get home, have two shots of scotch and wouldn't you know it.........while the batteries are reading drained and I feel like I'm about the flip of a switch to dreamland, there is still power in the circuits and I'm still awake. I finally decide to go to sleep about 1230.....and am frustrated when I wake up about 1600.

But Friday is a special case, anyhow. First of all, it is "my chance" to rejoin the rest of the country in the end of the week, rejoin the day people and often, there is so much drive to push the limit (of course, it would help if the tv line up was any good). Secondly, since I don't work the midshift on Friday, don't have classes, don't have any committments, it is much easier to go for broke.

But to the question directly: how do I know when I'm too tired? When there are latent images in my vision. Ie, I look at something and the image seems to drag as I look at something else.

We-ll...........where I work, going to college is affordable, so I work on a three part equation. A: as long as I work here, I'll take classes; B: As long as I am taking classes, they might as well count for something (working on a second Master's). C: pick a degree along your desires.

As such, I'm taking 12 grad hours, M-Th 1830-2130. That's grad full time + 3. And I work full time, 40 hours, 0000-0800. And I am part of a dive training team.
How do I do it? Simple........don't have a social life.

During the academy (020204-050604), I was there from 0600 or 0700 til 1700, and four of those weekdays, I would work at my job from 1730-2200. There's 18 hours right there, plus the two 9 hour shifts I would work on both weekend days. Altogether anywhere from 85-90 hours a week for 3.5 months. I took Wednesday evenings off from 1700 on, but I didn't have a single full day off for 3.5 months. It was rough, but I wouldn't have traded the experience for the world. I now have a great career ahead of me, and some really good friends.

As it is now, I work as a part-time LEO, so about 30 hours a week, and forty at my other job. Nearly the same hours, but I can do the shifts back to back and still take a day off per week to just crash.

Rather second that, in a way. That is, I said I didn't have a social life; well, I view being able to go to school, the 5 or 10K's I may do and such as my social life.

How one pictures what they do goes a long way to generating the energy they have in order to do it.
