Anybody else hate Communism?

Yeah, Communism seems great on paper, but... considering the nature of people, it will never work. If I bust my butt and my lazy co-worker gets paid the same as me, I'm not gonna bust my butt anymore.
Anyone ever read Animal Farm? Perfect example of how Communism doesn't work.

I agree with you - there is nothing wrong with acquiring wealth. In fact, it just sounds fair: the harder you work, the more you get. As stated earlier, if you bust your tail at a job and your slacker co-worker does not and you are both equal in pay and lifestyle, whats the pay-off for your hard work? My only answer is this - why would the rest of the place (job or society) play down to the slow man? How about this - everyone gets on the slacker and makes him work just as hard as the rest of you/us?

In a pure communist environment, there is no 'State' to provide - the workers are the State, and everyone shares in what the workers produce. If you have a slacker, or a dozen slackers, or a thousand slackers, their decreased production directly affects your quality of life. It would therfore be in your best interest to make the slackers produce, rather than for you to produce less.

The admission that we would play down to the slacker directly implies that the human condition is a lazy one. It also implies that the acquisition of personal wealth is the only true motivation. Doesn't say much for our compassion and humanity.

Secondly, too much of anything is never a good thing. A pure Capitalist society eliminates all social awareness and compassion. It would state that you get what you work for, nothing more, nothing less. For many reasons there are just some people who will not produce as much as others. That is just life. We currently live in a capitalist society that retains many socialist type programs aimed at assisting those who have fallen behind the curve. In this society, even with the assistance, not everyone is a millionaire. You would think that, with the existing opportunities economically America offers, everyone would have taken full advantage and we wuld all be insanely rich. But we are not. Is that a shortcoming of us all? My point is, a pure Capitalist society lack humanity, and basically says "Keep up or die". That's a system worse that Communism. The US recognizes that fundemantal lack of responsibility, and that is why a capitalist America maintains many socialist style programs.

Pure programs of any type - Communist/Socialist or Capitalist - are inherently flawed because they neglect certain but different aspects of human nature. I expect to be rewarded for working harder than my neighbor, but I am not willing to completely abandon him if he cannot or will not keep up with the rest of us.

This thread isn't really about anything other than me venting my hatred for communism/marxism. I go to University where everyone is a left wing pinko and above all a police hater. This website is the only place where I can talk to some conservative capitalists like myself.

I don't hate communism, after all it was around before humanity invented the concept of selfishness ;)

I don't hate Marxism either. In fact the Marxist analysis of many issues is really useful. It's not just an economic analysis, it's socio-political as well in fact that's probably its strength (I think Karl was a poor economist).

If you're a conservative capitalist then do what generations of intelligent and insightful conservative capitalists have done, read Marx (and Engels) and debate your opponents (who have probably only read the various interpretations of the originals anyway).
