Yet another newbie

Hello everyone, My name is Adam. Born and raised in NY, currently live in PA. I'm a regional supervisor at a large company. I'm currently in the hiring process for NJ Transit Police. I have the oral board in 2 days. Most of my family is in Police- Cousin is direct report to director of FBI. Other cousin is high rank in DEA. Cousin's husband is a detective. My fiance is a state LEO All of her extended family is in law enforcement (LEO's Judges, etc.- I sound like Marissa Thome from "My Cousin VinnY" when she was on the stand as an expert witness !!lol!) Needless to say I would like to join the club! I'm 33 and this is my first shot. My friend is a LEO for NJDOT and told me (since he knows me) that I should be a dunk shot to be hired based on my experience, personality, background, physical condition and other assets. But hey, even Michael Jordan missed some dunkshots! I'm just hoping I don't screw things up by doing something dumb, like forgetting to list an employer that I may have had when I was a teenager and worked about 50 jobs (should I get to the background check portion).

Anyway, this seems to be a great site and i have read many posts. Everyone seems knowledgeable and generally pleasant. I hope to join your ranks and be able to add some good insight to upcoming threads.

I Going Out For The Philadelphia Transit Police, Took The Written About A Week Ago. Know Trying To Meet The Phyisical.

Good luck, TDW. One thing I learned, luckily early enough, was that running is key! I have lifted weights my whole life but I was never real strong in distance running so I center my workouts around running at least 3 miles per day now. It kills me but I figure better now than in the academy if I'm fortunate enough to make it there. My physical agility test included jumping a 5 foot wall, dry firing a pistol 20 times inside a little ring without touching the sides, sprinting 1/4 mile back and forth in a gym (almost like suicides- if you've ever played basketball),jumping at least 5 feet and dragging a 150lb dummy 50 feet -all in under 3 minutes. The part that knocked most people out was trying to jump and then dragthat dummy after sprinting 1/4 mile.

I Don't Have To Do This Until Late March. I've Been Working Out Since January, My Running Time Is 18.25 At First It Was 25. I Just Want To Do This The Best Way So I Don't Have To Go Through This Again.

Well, an update... had the oral board interview yesterday and was called back today by an investigator to continue ahead with the background check (whew!). Just 2 more phases to go...
