I have a problem with someone stalking me on my computer and phone. They are very persistent, and contact me first on the social networks. I don't know that it is someone bad at first, until they start posting stuff from my background. I look at their pages, and see stuff that reflects that I am being watched. They know that the stalking scares me. I feel that it is connected with someone at the college, but I do not know who.
I recently filed a complaint with OCR, Dept. of Education, regarding an expulsion at our local community college. This guy (or group of people) even overheard my phone conversation with the lawyer. I have no privacy at all anymore. I cannot even open my bank account on my PC because they have been in it before, and set the emergency flags to send text messages to my husband's phone.
These people monitor everything I do online, what websites I visit, and what I purchase. One of them pretended to be a credit counselor last fall. The worst thing they did, however, was to obtain a large amount of old email from the college, as well as my own. I am an older student who has gone in and out over the years. Even though I recently declared a major and have been taking classes for credit, they want to get rid of me. I had only fifteen hours left to graduate. With this old email, they impersonated teachers (one got promoted to Dean), and gained my trust. I kept questioning who it was, but would see all this familiar content, and be deceived. I kept looking at the pages, and I keep looking, after learning that they are monitoring me everywhere I go. No one stole anything. I think that there is a connection to the college but I do not know exactly where. When I was still going to class, I could watch them making remarks about what I was doing as I entered and left the building.
In the fall, they were changing my passwords, and spamming stuff to my Facebook walls. They would change my passwords anytime I had contact with anyone above the instructor level all year. Any email I made to ANYONE at the college was monitored tightly, as well as every click that I made. I asked too many questions because I wanted these people caught. I still wonder how the real-time remarks got in there. These days, however, all they needed to do was read my email and track me to know how to act like they were the school doing it. I really don't know. It is heart-breaking that the people I was closest to may have done this to me. I cannot ask them. The school accused me of being dangerous and threw me out two weeks before finals with absolutely no evidence. Two months before that, I was almost suicidal over the stalking, but had been fine for about two months; after I officially reported it, the harassment died down (I delayed reporting it the right way, both because no one showed me the appropriate way to file a Title 9 complaint, and because I originally thought that it really was teachers). No one over there ever took it seriously, even though they were being impersonated. One teacher called one of the Facebook pages just a joke site. But this site was posting real time comments that showed awareness of my every move. Because of the OCR complaint, I am still being stalked. After my hearing, but before the school knew about the OCR complaint, the stalking stopped. As soon as the letter came, the stalking came back.
My big question is: what kind of police do I try and report this to? I am worried about making a false claim. I need to make a serious report of some kind, but I do not know exactly who to accuse. All I know is that these people know a great deal about how to string my background info. together in meaningful ways that will hurt my feelings, or scare me. No one has directly threatened my life. They are just mean. They even got into my medical records, and posted something to show me that they had read my hospital records from twelve years ago (traumatic). That scared me. It is intimidating.
We live in an unincorporated area. Should I go to our local sheriff? I need for someone to monitor the I.P. addresses that are accessing my computer over a period of time, so that I can possibly locate them. I know of no other way to get evidence. They have spyware on my computer and phone. Can a local sheriff's office tell what kind of spyware it is? It is a very good key-logger with remote access. Can they analyze my phone to see what is on it? The traditional spyware software that detects these things does not find anything. We replaced the operating system Christmas, and they are still there. My recent discovery that they are even listening on my cheap, throwaway phone (to my conversation with my lawyer) surprised me. I did not think that anyone could stalk a plain cell phone without having physical access to the phone.
Should I call the F.B.I. I don't want to be a fool. I really, really want to catch these creeps. They basically ruined my references and any chance at graduate school. It is hard to catch someone who knows enough legally and technically to not get caught by the average person.
Any ideas? Oh, I did see my psychiatrist in August. The OCR complaint is being investigated because the school violated section 504 by kicking out an otherwise capable student. I have a 3.6 GPA. I suspect that it is really my age, however, and even the expulsion letter starts out implying that. No one ever sat me down to talk to me about why they wanted me to leave. Instead they seem to have fed their old email to this horrible stalking service, meant to harass people like me that they have no real legal reason to get rid of.
