I am kdw and I am just getting the ball rolling on getting into law enforcement. I currently live in Florida and I do have lots of questions. I would ideally like to get swat qualified down the road but, first things first I need to get into the academy. I read the thread on "so you want to be a police officer" and that had a lot of good info. I am considering applying to an academy out of state like Cobb County Police Academy in Atlanta, anyone hear anything good or bad about them?
I am sure to have more questions so I will thank all of you in advance. Thanks

kdw, Welcome to RP from the Florida Panhandle! Pretty wild thread title, but thanks for the quick intro. Also, thanks for reading the stickies! There's tons of great info here and lots of wonderful people, so dig in and really explore the space!
As for doing an academy, if you're looking to get LE certified in Florida, I wouldn't go to an out of state academy. To sit for the test here in FL, I believe you have to have attended an academy in FL. If, however, you're looking to get hired and moving isn't an issue, look around and put in apps for agencies as well as academies wherever you feel you wouldn't mind living!"Some people live an entire lifetime and wonder if they have made a difference in the world. I am also in the Pan Handle and I do like it here, but I want to try and find an academy that pays me to go and not the other way around. I know that is pretty hard to do. If you could recommend any academies in the pan handle that would be great too.
