hello everyone.

I am making a drastic career change from tow truck company owner (not yet, that was my plan ) to law enforment officer.

I have worked with law enforcement when towing, when the needed impounds....and I got to see first hand what kind of a job and community service they dedicate to.

My decision to become a police officer, is not one made by hard choices. I love helping people, from telling someone that there lugnuts might be missing...to jump starting people. So, I figured this is an excellent way to help people and have a career in this horrible economy. My training through my local community college's police academy will take just under a year to complete. So, I figure, by the begging of 2012...I should have a job as a law enforcement officer.

Just wanted to stop in and introduce myself....I am 23 years old and born canadian (legal resident with green card) I am excited to pursue me new career, and happy about the choice to become a police officer.

It's good you have that desire but you will find you will annoy people much more often than you will help them...

I think you will find most USA PD's require citizenship , not just a green card.

Welcome to RP from the Florida Panhandle! Thanks for finding our little home on the internet. Tons of great info and wonderful people here, so dig in and really explore the space!!

And I believe mcsap is correct above, most (if not all) of our LE agencies require their recruits to be actual citizens, not just have a green card.

I did check with my local pd, and they say that registered aliens ante able to become l.e officers.
