    Greetings from Texas

Not exactly a new member, but it has been over 6 months since I was here and have a new screen name. As one member pointed out, and it was my faux, I should introduce myself before posting. Well I am here to rectify my oversight.

My name is Ken and I am, among other things, a writer. My genre is Crime fiction, specifically Police Procedurals. What is a Police Procedural you may ask. Well, it is a sub-genre of Mystery, of which Crime fiction is a sub-genre. To make is clear, think Blue Bloods, or Chicago Code. Those are what would be considered Police Procedurals.

When I'm not a writer I work for a Fortune 500 company in the IS Security department on various projects. Of course, once my first novel gets published and the royalties start coming in, then I will say goodbye to the day job and focus on my writing.

Prior to becoming an IT Nerd, yes I said it, I was in the US Navy for 11 years, and the US Army for 2 before that. I was a cryptographer with a Top Secret clearance in the Army, and a plain old Boatswain's Mate in the Navy. I did work temporary duty aboard one ship as a Master-at-Arms and loved it, even tried to change over, but the Navy thought I was much more valuable working on deck.

Hope I've made a good introduction and look forward to reading the forums. I also want to say thank you to all the men and women out there on the job who put their lives on the line every day to protect and serve the public.

Howdy, Ken. I hope you've got a good recipe for a vinegar-based BBQ sauce you wanna share...Texas BBQ is the shiznit!

BTW - did you mean to say faux pas? Because alone, faux means fake.

You must've had a very short stay. I can think of SEVERAL people (including yours truly) who are a long sight short of "wonderful."
Of every one hundred men, ten should not even be here. Eighty are nothing but targets. Nine are real fighters, and we are lucky to have them, for they make the battle. Ah, but the One... One of them is a Warrior... He will bring the others back.

    "Wrong door, buddy!"

Yeah, Texas BBQ is great, especially the brisket. As for sharing, no, I don't have one. My B-in-Law had a really fantastic one before he passed. Unfortunately he never wrote it down, least wise where anyone can find it. Onery bastard to the end.

Yes, and as a writer, my bad. Thanks for pointing that out. (Another faux pas)

Now I have to say I have yet to meet anyone here that has been other than wonderful. Then again, as you say, I haven't been here that long.

Thanks pardner! *Rides off into sunset*

hey KJ welcome to the forum Fortune 500 company voted the company that I work for the top places to work they did a huge article about it it was pretty neat.. very cool that you are writing a book I have threw around the idea of writing a book not police related but a novel based on my son's NICU experience to help other parents deal with prematurity.. So far I have made it to chapter eight I think and had to take a break too many emotions resurfacing..wish you the best.

Thanks for the welcome. Wish you the best with the book, it can't be easy writing about something that close to you. Actually this is my second book, the first one is complete and that is one reason I stopped back by today. The first book in the series is now available as an e-book. I won't post the site here, or the title as I don't want to break the rules. If you are interested, you can PM me and I will give you the link.

Again, I wish you the best of luck with your book.
