I’m a Police Officer, from the Puerto Rico Police Department; I’m making a research for a thesis of the Universidad Del Este in Puerto Rico, about the way in here, the police officer patrols the streets at night with the blue lights always on.
The basic is that the government understands that this method help to decrease the statistics of crime in the island.
What the opinion of the police officer in the states about that statement?
Did someone tell me any place in the U.S.A that uses that method?

No police officers anywhere on the mainland US that I am aware of use that technique.

I'm a criminal up to no good, I see headlights coming down the street. Is it a police officer or a normal citizen? Nevermind, it doesn't have blue lights flashing, so I will continue my conduct. Seems pretty redicoulous to me. It only makes people feel better to see the blue lights flash outside their window but reduces the effects of the police to be effective.

Just a political feel good solution.
