Intro

Hello all,

First I would just like to say thank you to those of you who keep this forum running - it's been a great information resource! Also, thank you to those of you who have served or are currently serving as LEOs.

As for my intro, my name is Richard and I'm currenly serving in the Air Force. Later this year I will be starting the process to crosstrain into AFOSI, and I can't wait! I'm currenty working on my Masters degree and hope to one day move on to a PhD. When I'm not doing the school and work thing, I enjoy snowboarding, recreational flying, PT, and playing with my turntables.

I look forward to (hopefully) entering the LE world and learning everything I can from this site.

Thank you for your service as well. I've done a decent amount of searching around on a few different LE forums and I have noticed that there does seem to be a shortage of AFOSI Special Agents posting. I'm not all that surprised, however, since I know it's one of the smaller organizations. The FLETC topics I've found on RP have been very informative. It's also nice to see opinions from personnel across a wide variety of LE organizations, as I know there is always the chance I may one day attempt to join another agency (assuming I actually get into AFOSI).

Oh yeah, one more thing, if you have a desire to "check out AFOSI to make you more competitive for the FBI" don't bother coming over. I have met about 25 such folks in the past 6 months. AFOSI is not a feeder organization. If you want to go someplace else eventually, my advice is to get out and do so.

Glad to meet someone who has some attachment to AFOSI. It is not my intention to join AFOSI simply to gain experience that will make me more competitive for the FBI. I love being a part of the military, and I would like nothing more than to join AFOSI and finish my Air Force career with them. I was only saying that if, for some reason, the military ceases to be the avenue I want to continue with it's nice to get perspectives from people across different LE organizations.

As far as the questions go, I may have a couple for you. I'll send them through a PM so that I don't clutter up the forum. I'm actually lucky... I have two previous coworkers who have crosstrained over to OSI within the last couple of years, so I've been able to get a lot of the specifics out of them. Thank you for the advice. I imagine that it would get pretty annoying having a bunch of people view OSI as "stepping stone" instead of their actual goal.
