    Heather's new to Forum

Hello everyone, my name is Heather and I am working on my bacholers degree in criminal justice. I joined this resource site to get a better and more "real" perspective of how the system works and what I need to know in general. I am not sure what I want to do with my degree yet, however I am leaning towards criminology or crime scene(prefer homicide). Talk soon!

lol...like your quote, I hate it when people dial and drive. It is my wise knowledge that most people have a difficult time multitasking in general, it's not a good idea on the road! Thanks for the welcome Trip

Burn it in the fireplace. That's what I'm going to do with mine.

Welcome, Heather. I don't know how far along you are in your degree pursuit, but you might want to search this forum regarding a criminal justice degree.

If you are interested in criminology, you might want to look at a degree in sociology. If you want to pursue crime scene work, a degree in a hard science such as biology would serve you much better.

    Enjoy your stay.

Anything I want to acheive has to be done with 2 or 3 different degrees...let's see..how much will that come to? I certainly can not afford it! lol

I was wondering about sociology, I think it would be beneficial no matter what path I decided to venture on. Science is great, but if I am going to put that much work into my education, I would rather extend it and go for pathologist. At any rate, there is so much out there, I just have to narrow it down!! Thanks for the welcome

Criminal Justice is a hodge podge of classes that really go nowhere. I would strongly recommend a degree that can be useful in another endeavor in case police work doesn't turn out to be your cup of tea. Few agencies require a CJ degree and are happy with any. If you can bring something else to the table, that would be better.

BTW, I have a bachelor's and a masters in sociology and they're not that valuable either. I went that route because I frankly found the classes easy.

You know a Pathologist requires an MD, don't you? That's not a lab tech job.

No unsworn CSI types in PA. Everyone who investigates a crime on-scene is a sworn member of LE and before they became a CSI type , they started out as a street cop for for a number of years.

    Welcome to RP anyway.

Yes, I realize that it requires an MD, I wish I would have started school earlier. I am so frustrated at this point in my education, I feel it is all for nothing. I wonder now if I should finish my bachelors or try to switch? Ugh....
