    New member...

Well, as you probably guessed, my names Jake, go to WVU right now. Originally from Hopewell Twp, NJ (lived next-door to the Co. Sheriff, and a few Staties and local police for Ewing and Hopewell on the same road - my room was on the border between the two towns). Basically, I'm a car guy, I love racing at various tracks (Englishtown RP, Island, Atco, Lapeer, Milan, Ubly, Norwalk, MIR, etc.) and also run Rally, Solo2/ProSolo, and dirt and paved ovals. What can I say, I enjoy a good adrenaline rush on the weekends at the track, then spend my weeks driving a boring grocery getter and follow the laws.

Well, joined to ask a few questions about a couple things I was cited for this past weekend, basically, to find out whether or not I was in violation of these codes, what they mean, etc. (as I thought it was a simple 10-50 in a parking lot, but apparently I'm being cited for enough points to get my license revoked and who knows what else!!!)

    Thanks!
    - JR

It's nice to have you join us, but it's unlikely that you'll find what you're looking for here.

We're not going to second guess the officer that cited you. As far as we are concerned, if he wrote the tickets, you were in violation. Luckily, there is a mechanism for you to have someone else second guess them. It's called "Court".

As for understanding the laws or codes, first... you were supposed to know that stuff when you got your license. That's why they made you take classes like Driver's Ed. Yes, I know most people can't be bothered with remembering little stuff like traffic laws.

Second... every state has different codes and laws. Most are similar, but when it comes to disputing citations, specific words and phrases are important. I don't know of any West Virginia officers that frequent this site, who could give you that kind of insight.
