Hey, I am born and raised in Illinois. I have a High School diploma, and one and a half years of community college. I have worked in irrigation, now in the Plumbers Union for eight years. I am now 25, turning 26 in Febuary.
I grew up watching Cops the TV series and always wanting to join the service. Now I am at a point in my life married and one child, I need something that means something to me. So going into the service is out of the question, considering there is a war going on. But I feel I need to protect and stand for something with job security. I get paid really well now but I would join the police even though pay would not be the same.
So I have decided to try to become a police officer. I have been lurking here for a while now doing research. If any of you guys/gals have any advice on what I could do to bettter my odds I would greatly appreciate it.

The troll that lives under the forum stole quite a few posts from the past couple days. That was one of them.
