HELP ME PlEASE ...Ex-cop needs some info.

Hello everyone. I want to get right down to my question. I was a NYPD cop for 7 years. I resigned ( Narcotics) on my 7th because I got suspended ( jammed up )and hit with charges and specs and signed off on them but they never charged me in the Judiciary room . I was advised by my DEA delegate that it was best for my to leave anyways since I was leaving anyways ( for another job ) . I got intervied by IAB and obviously , the interview went their way ( bc that is how it goes ) . I forsaw it that they were going to fire me but instead I just left. I am inquiring about going through the whole test taking process again and wanted to know will this come back to the Applicant process (when I cross that bridge I guess) . Do you think they will give me a chance again? SHould I just keep going through until I get to that part ? All I wanted to be is a NYPD cop again. I am not a bad person and this was my only problem in all of 7 yrs but I know now that on my previous experience , no one wants you to be happy. So people became envious , messed with and that is that. Please don't laugh I am a lot wiser now and I wanted you guys input. Everything helps here. please let me know. Thanks for your time.

Elaborate on what? I don't understand what my ego has to do with this at all? I got suspended and signed off on the charges and specs given to me as advised by my delegate. I tried to fight the suspension but it went nowhere. I mean no disrespect to anyone here , just looking for some logical answers. that is all.

Sorry . Controlled sub. Open locker and NO I did not . My locker was messed with and on m day off with the one rat working on sunday while Im off and to find out my locker was tossed around with numerous things found in it . Controlled subs. I used to be an Undercover and had all my UC gear in there as well as my uniforms. Seems pretty fishy that I was going to leave a week after this happened on good terms then this.

Not at all. the DEA did nothing for me while all this was going on, I hired my own lawyer bc the DEA appointed lawyer did NOTHING. They just sat back and did nothing. They did not help me through the interviews with IAB either. Both my DEA delegate and DEA lawyer just sat there and did not interject during the process. i had to pay out of my own pocket for help. All my DEA lawyer told me is to sign what the charges are now just wait . That is when I was leaving at that point to switch careers and move away from NYC. But I wanted to try again you know? Being third generation I still have that bug .

Well this all sounds too weird. Like a story line from Hollywood. Anyway, assuming you are a victim of circumstance your chances of getting hired again are slim to none IMHO.

I will say this, if someone suggested i sign off on charges I was innocent of I'd tell them to f@&k their hat.

Well, as we say down south, you just said a whole lotta nuthin'. You admit in the statement above to wrongdoing, but give no details about WHAT you did. PD, even big ones like NYPD, don't just fire officers because their name is next on a list. You also don't get interviewed by IA for minding your own business. We all know IA bureaus occasionally investigate BS complaints, they have to, but the statements you made about being a victim of circumstance (without a shred of detail as to what happened or what your role was or wasn't) raises HUGE red flags.

I don't foresee an agency asking someone to leave and then welcoming them back with open arms because they said they've changed. Doesn't work that way.

On my day off , Sun/Mond. My locker was fucked with on a sunday. Locker was found trashed and all of my belongings were scattered and when I asked to see my locker , I was told I can't because it is a crime scene and they are tking finger prints. My locker was all the way in the second isle of our office (not a pct.) . The person who reported it was another cop (whom was NOT like by all and sent to out building bc he did the same to another person a few yrs prior ) looking around (idk why ) and that was what I was told. I did not do anything but being on my RDO regular scheduled day off . i was accused of having controlled sub. in my locker. When I signed out 2300 hrs that Sat. before my locker was locked. Little did I know until now that someone unhinged the swing lock to my locker thus having my locker fucked with. I was told I had to sign off on my charges and spefications bc that was part of the process . alot of screwy things that happend while i was away and that fucked up DET. the only one in the bdlg ? and on top of that my vouchers from other arrest were ripped opened too? I put my pension papers in a month before this and I knew being an Undercover you are an asset to this dept and you are such a star ( BS I was told at the pension section) Narcotics is a fucked up unit in NYPD now. I knew whie i was getting my papers waiting to sign off ( the pension sect) was calling Narco division telling them they have one of our UC's trying to leave. What I should have done was wait until the last second and then pull my papers and walk out the next day . I know now you can't trust no one. thanks anyways ppl/

I've been holding out long enough. The fact your locker got trashed and no one in your command (bosses) backed you up says droves about your reputation. There is far more to your story than you are posting here. In 28+ yrs OTJ I've seen and heard just about everything...at least once and your story smells like a ripe DOA on a 100 degree day. Just from what you have alluded too, tells me the DEA wanted no part of this either.

I gotta ask...are you really serious, pulling our leg or are you just stupid thinking you have another shot at the job? In my time I have heard a few horror stories, most in the end have had favorable endings, even though they took a toll on officer. Its the nature of the job, doesn't make it right, just the way it is.

Do yourself a favor and move on. If you can account for your time since leaving and have a good story as to why you left, another dept may hire you. The job doesn't always tattle on you when they you leave, depends on how you left...which you really haven't answered here. Good luck.

I gotta say this sounds like a failed Serpico script... written much less eloquently.

The fact that you failed to see how more details were important than you were forthcoming with in your first post, yet you wanted some type of accurate answer leads me to believe as others do, that there are details still unexplained.
