I'm a retired Soldier looking to start a second career in federal LE. I'm currently enrolled in a graduate-level Computer Information Systems program. I figure that while I'm looking around for a job taking advantage of the available education benefits just makes sense. It will also give me something to fall back on.
I'm a "preference eligible" vet. I was in fact medically retired due to injuries after almost 16 years service, tho now that I've had a few years to recover and get my self in order I don't think they will prevent me from serving as a federal LE officer/ agent.
I'll be looking for information on specific medical requirements and disqualifications. _I_ think I'll be fine and my doc thinks I'll be fine but I know I have to convince a medical board or officer somewhere of that.
I'll also be looking for information about the various agencies, their culture and what their agents/officers actually do. I'm interested in all the larger agencies: USMS, FBI, USBP but I'll probably be applying for every job for which I reasonably qualify. They can only say "Heck no!", right?
From what I've seen there is a lot of information available here, now I just need to sort it out.
