So I have been lurking for quite some time and finally decided to join up and have a virtual voice on this site. 24 y/o male, married, 8 month old daughter, college degree in counseling. Anyone who saw my original post in the background/hiring process board knows that I just got hired on to a police department in my state. First day of Academy is a few days away!
Just thought I'd "introduce" myself. Any other new folks out there, take the advice given on this site and utilize it in your career pursuits. It's very good and I definitely think a lot of it helped me get hired. You(and I) are in a very fortunate position to have such a valuable resource at our fingertips. Before "Al Gore" blessed us with the wonderful invention of the internet, no such collection of advice was so readily available to LEO hopefuls. I love this site and will continue to follow it as long as it is around.
P.S.: I know i've only been lurking for a little over a year, but I still find troll posts funny...most of the time. Sorry mods, I know some of you must have carpal tunnel from the ban button.

Appreciate the rep. If there is one thing I learned in the first two weeks of the academy, it's that the only two things you are guaranteed(if you have a bad attitude) are a healthy smoking(not the cigarette type) and a trip to the unemployment line.
I love the academy(in a strange sense) and can't imagine myself pursuing any other career....ever
