Hello everyone. I am new here!I am a 17 year old (male) LI/NYer who is is interested in becoming a Police Officer for either New York, Nassau, or Suffolk County. (Probably New York, since Nassau and Suffolk rarely hire). I am working towards getting my GED, working as an Auxiliary Police Officer once I turn 18 for Nassau, and then getting a Criminal Justice degree so I can become a full Police Officer.
I just signed up, and am happy to have registered on these boards! Thanks for reading my intro. If you have any advice, I'd be glad to hear it.

Welcome to RP. My piece of advice is if possible, do not get stuck on just Long Island. Like you said Nassau and Suffolk do not seem to hire too often or too many, especially considering the amount of applicants they have.
With that being said, nothing against the northeast, but I found the application process was much more efficient, quicker, and better odds on the west coast compared to NY, NJ, CT, RI, and MA. I have a friend from CA and another friend from TX, all three of us were originally from the northeast and feel the same way.

Yes, that's why NYPD would probably be the best. From what I understand, California is going to be doing the most hiring until 2016. If all else failed, I'd probably go their and takes the tests. I still have a long time though before I even need to worry about that sort of thing.

My family is full of people who work in Public service, for some reason nobody in my family has ever spent their life careers in the private sector except for my father, who works for Con Edison (and even that's doing work for the public). This isn't the first LEO website I've been to either, but I came here because I saw they have a verification system which I think is better, since I know they're real PO's at least.
