First I would like to say hello to everyone on the board. I'm looking forward to learning alot and contributing to the board as a whole. I am currently in the process of becoming a law enforcement officer at the municipal level. I have my medical.psych test coming up in the next few weeks and all other steps have been completed. According to the cheif of police as long as I successfully complete this last step I will be sworn into the Department in December and off to start the academy in late January. Thanks everyone and I look forward to my tenure before and hopefully after I officially become a LEO.

update
hello all
quick update...had my psych eval today. About a thousand and one questions with many of them being the same. I had to draw a house, and a tree, and two people (not much of an artist so that was fun). Basically disclosed my entire being on this earth. Well If I wasn't crazy going in they definetly make you feel that way coming out. But all in all I think it went well and the interview seemed to go smoothly. Now all that's left is the medical testing tomorrow morning and I'm completely done with the process. Wish me luck ladies and gents!

Update again
I sort of feel like a high school chick gossiping to her friends with all these updates haha...but I digress...the first part of the medical is done, blood, urine (yet again), x-rays, vision, hearing, joint assessment. Dec 3 I have the second part which is a Stress test and final physical examination in order to gain a medical release to enter into the academy. So granted I don't have any problems with my heart rate and blood pressure (which I never have) then I should be all set for the academy in January. My department is doing the appointments Dec 9 so ultimately that is my day of reckoning. I am very excited about being done with this process and actually being able to put all my attention into training and learning. This has been such a long, drawn out, and stressful process so I am very pleased to have it over and done with. I also graduate college right before I will be entering the academy so that is another stepping stone accomplished. I don't post much at all yet but I do lurk and read. This site is very informative and seems to be filled with very respectable and knowledgable people (for the most part ;)
For all the guys and gals in my position just keep your feet moving and eyes on the prize...
As for the lucky men and women who are already officers of the law...my utmost respect goes out to all of you and your families for your daily grind. Stay safe out there and remember...when your alone theres really only 1*--(great knives btw)

A position with the authority and power that we have should not be easily obtained. There should be many " pitfalls " along the way to catch those that dont belong. Each step completed is a small victory on your way to final victory. Knowing that you have worked to get where you want to go and then being sucessful will make you appreciate it a lot more.

Well if that doesn't wrap up life in a nutshell I don't know what does...patience and hard work pays off..I was actually a little surprised about how detailed and serious this entire process was in general. I wasn't expecting it really but it makes me more proud that I have gotten through it and that my future profession takes such pride in this entire process. I have always been raised to work hard in order to earn what you want in life. If not, then your just wasting your time and spinning your wheels. Thanks everybody for the kind words

Well I made it...just got appointed to my department. The academy starts january 26 officially but I have to do the pre-fitness test on the 17th. Thanks to all for the kind words and I will be picking all of your brains very soon!
