Hey everyone!!! Sorry im rude should of introduced myself about a week ago. This forum is just filled with so much information that ive been kinda lurking around. I just entered the field of Security a few months ago and love it! I come from a family of many LEOS, and wanted to become an MP when I entered the military at 18, but I got talked out of it by the LEOS in the family...lol go figure. Ive been a Homemaker for the past 8 years..raising two boys ages 7 and 13, and now that they are older I figured it was time to hit the workforce again, and do something ive always wanted to do. Im currently working as a Security Patrol officer, would of loved to become a LEO one day, but with growing boys it would be really hard, they require so much attention, and guidance, and I pride myself in the fact that my boys are very respectful, and well-behaved...so they wont be giving any of you LEOS a hard time;) In June im going to do some continuing education classes to become commisioned. Either way hope you all don't mind me lurking around....and Thank-You LEOS for all that you do!;)

You can't do "continuing education" to become commissioned. You have to take a 30 hour Level 3 course.

I wonder, in regards to the kids, what would be different being a cop and working full time as a guard?

I am a licensed manager for Private Security in Texas, as well as a classroom and firearms instructor for the armed guard (level 3) training. If I can help you or answer any questions please let me know.

Im sorry didnt mean to confuse anyone..when I said continuing education I meant it as futhering myself by taking the 30 hour course, OCAT, MEB, and PATH training as well....Right now my job is seasonal which is great...I would really like to work Security in one of the Hospitals in my area. That's funny about the Yankee Joke..im actually from NJ originally:rolleyes: lol...I live in SA TX now, met my husband here and stayed when i was in the military. TX has been good to me though. Im just taking it day by day no rush..want to have the experience under my belt, and not end up in a situation where im unable to handle myself. Ive noticed alot of people where I work walk around with their chests puffed out so much and a major chip on their shoulder like the world owes them something:rolleyes: Im very street smart, and very laid back, and react appropriatly when need be. I can talk myself through alot of things with kindness majority of the time. But ive noticed thus far that if you come off as billy bad a** with people you are gonna have problems...so I have a really good balance there. So far being back at work has worked just fine as far as having time for both the homefront and work...guess it all depends on where you work and your level of responsibility and how many hours you get yourself into.
