Hello, I am here to be learn from active cops and to get some information on things that I might be able to study before my training starts to be a reserve cop in our town. I will train and work as a reserve and then move into a full time position. At least that is my plan. 99% of all the Reserves here have moved into full time positions.
Any suggestions on places to go for "general" things that I will need to know would be greatly appreciated.
Short Biography: Rough upbringing that luckily didn't lead me into anything that would exclude me from a career as a cop. I've had a lot of college , but didn't finish. Sociology, Criminal Justice, social work and many core subjects i feel will really help my career along with the fact that I was knee deep in the things that I want to stop on the streets.

Why I want to be a cop:
I like to help people that can't help themselves. Not all help is "nice" and "sweet". Some help comes from intervention and showing people a better way. Sometimes you can't do that until they are in the back seat of a cop car. Sometimes it can't be done at all and you just have to protect those that are victimized by them. I also like defending victims of violence. I guess in a nut shell, I like to help people that can't help themselves and protect them from the people that are truly lost forever.

I've read a few of your comments and you are certainly a good officer to ask if a question arises.

You may find one or two of my 15,500 posts not to your liking but at my curent rate of pay here , nobody should complain.
It just isnt fair , I didnt have the net' as a resource in the early to mid 80's. I had to go out and LOOK for a job.
