I'd like to share some experience. I've become a police officer 1994., during the war here, trained as a motorcikle officer at our traffic department. It's a very intense job here, meeting and contacting many people and, of course, supporting the law in many different ways. It's difficult to become a traffic officer, as you have to show quality. In some way it's some kind of promotion.
How does it work there?
Perhaps it's better i post in another thread...
Its important to note that almost all of the U.S. Is asleep right now (scary thought if you think about it) and this site is made up of a lot of U.S. Officers. So the replies my be limited. I personally work nights so I'm up at these hours, unfortunately I'm not an LEO so I can't really answer your question.
