Hi all, I've been registered on these forums for a while now, and thought it's time I introduced myself.
I'm a serving officer in the UK, with a wife who hails from the US, and who is now living over this side of the pond.
We've got 2 young children, and in we're all off to Phoenix in mid November to see the in-laws. I'm hoping to get out on a ride-along while I'm there, so who knows, I may see one of you there!

Where abouts in AZ do the in-laws live? It's such a stark contrast to the UK, but the people are great, I'm sure you'll get a ride-along.

I met a Sgt in San Jose, California, who used to work for the Met Police, it was very strange seeing this big US cop with his broad UK accent.

Have your in-laws seen your billy lids before?

I'll be staying in the Boonies when I get there, a place to the south west of Phoenix called Buckeye.

As for Billy lids, that had me stumped, but thank goodness for Google I now know what they are! The inlaws have seen the oldest one who is 4 now, but not the youngest who is 2, so I excpect them both to be showered with goodies!

As far as United goes, I'm a Liverpool fan so wouldn't touch anything with united written on, hence we're flying Britich Airways, which believe it or not is not only the only direct flight, but pretty much the cheapest too!

About British Airways, yes, you're right, they are mostly the cheapest but - BA has also the smallest seats and less place for the legs. I flight two times from Heathrow to Boston and I had the same problems. And I'm only 1,73 m small;) But they have a great service on bord.

I had heard a rumor that there was some sort of exchange program, but I thought that was somewhat weird, as his radio call sign signified a sergeant. I believe you just answered a long pondered question of those I used to work with. I'm assuming of course that we are speaking of the same man.

*LOL* ~ my daughter (19) is flying to the UK in March, staying with a friend in Liverpool, I'll remind her not to use that word, which we shall not repeat. :D

It will be a grand adventure for the kids, that's for sure.
