Hi, just registered today.I'm testing for the academy next week, (written test - physical agility test to follow later on in October), and just found this forum.
My name is Steven and I'm hoping to go through the Police Academy in Fresno, California. I'm 35 years old and the father of four. I've held numerous jobs in my life and am finally ready for a career. One I can be proud of and my kids can look up to. I was looking into going into the fire academy or even the military as recently as last year.
I have lots of family and friends in law enforcement. It's just taken me a while to realize my correct path.

Thanks for all the welcomes. Update: Just took my POST written exam. Waiting on my score. If I pass, I'll be taking my physical agility on Oct 28th. I went on my first ride-along and had a great time. Don't know if anyone is familiar with my neck-o-the-woods, but the high-light was literally when we caught some guy stealing hay. :rolleyes:

Nice, sounds like my neck of the woods...NW Wisconsin. I completed an internship with the SO for a college course, which required 80 ride along hours (I put in about 140). My highlight of the internship: I found 4 packets of crystal meth a tweaker tried to ditch on the ground next to our squad!

Our hay thief had some pot on him but it was such a small amount that when the deputy I was with dropped it - it blew away in the wind before it could even hit the ground... Polite guy, our hay thief. Right up until he realized we weren't going to let him go for *** kissing. Then he got really demanding..! :cool:
