Hello to all,
I thought I should introduce myself. I started looking in this site as I am interested in patch collecting. I joined the NSW Police in Australia in 2000. I am currently the lock up keeper at a single unit station in country NSW. So once again hello and stay safe out there!

I'm guessing so, being from south of the border, we call them "watch house keepers" ~ I'm sure there's some UK theme behind it.

A lock up keeper is now a sort of disbanded position but they still call us by that name. I have a small station in the bush. I have one cell that is decomissioned. We now have central charging stations and/or holding stations. There's a difference. But in the past (15years ago) the LUK had to take care of prisoners and feed them. Hope that clears it up. Now we are the officers on call where stations are not 24hours. And as there's only me here when I'm not working the station is closed.
