Greetings. I've been lurking for a few months and finally decided it was time to check in.
I've been an Air Force pilot for almost 10 years now, and I got interested in pursuing a LE career about a year ago. I'm still undecided on what I'm going to do...It'd be much simpler if I were single, but with a family, taking a paycut from ~$80k isn't easy.
That being said, I'm not sure if I should hang out the last 10 year in the military or go the 1811 route (assuming I could get hired, of course). I'm not enjoying things as much as I once was in the AF, but I think to myself, what if I get 10 years into a LE career and dont like it? I could have been retired.... I'll also be too old in 10 years for an 1811
I went through an indecision point about 7 months ago in conjunction with a return from deployment and a baby being born, so I missed the FBI Phase I test thereby eliminating me from that process (and a thousand readers cried...)
I don't mind moving around and travel, but I don't want to raise my family entirely overseas, either (a la the State Dep't SA).
Anyway...Thanks for the forum, it has been a useful (and entertaining) tool in the process.
