I was recently hired as an auxillary officer. I wasn't supposed to start untill next week, but since they are doing increased patrol for the holiday I am starting tonight. They called me and the other new hires to come by the station this morning to pick up our badges and get our call numbers assigned. I am really anxious to get started, but at the same time I have those first day of school type of butterflies in my stomach.

My first night was good I helped at a couple of different checkpoints just checking for seatbelts, DLs and insurance. Second car I checked, the driver told me he THOUGHT his license MIGHT be expired. He was right it had expired in 1997:eek: ! I worked about 5 hours that night.
I worked 9 hours yesterday. We worked traffic all morning. The officer I was with had me on the radio running the lpn's and teaching me how to talk to the dispatchers and get the info he needed. He was really cool and explained everything perfectly. At lunch I ended up in the car with a different officer. The first call we had was a fight at an apartment so I got some exercise on that one. We stayed busy the rest of the day doing everything from traffic stops to loud music complaint calls. Then the last call of the shift we backed up another officer who had stopped some known dealers. Unfortunantly we must have caught them just after the deal, we found 5k in cash but no drugs.
All in all I really enjoyed it and can't wait to do it again.
