Hi, I'm Chris. I joined the site nearly a year ago, but lately I've gotten back into the swing of it. I enjoy reading up on the overall life and careers of Law Enforcement Officers and I liked seeing that you Officers give logical advice to those aspiring to serve among you.
I've been interested in Law Enforcement for years, since I was a child. I've worked around officers for years as a Boy Scout and helping when I can and have always enjoyed it. It's only been in the past year or so that I've realized that it is what I want to do. I believe my biggest faulting (like so many people posting their silly questions) would be marijuana use in High School. I had smoked around seven times in a two year period. I was stupid and had no goals and my friends had been able to get ahold of it. Other than that I've only had a $60 dollar ticket for going 5 over the speed limit and a parking ticket in a zone I hadn't seen marked. I take responsibility for my actions and I'm going to let the time pass as it's been three years now. I will do anything I can (honorably of course) to attain my goals.
Currently I'm soon to take the ASVAB and I'm looking to enlist in July as a UH-60 Technician in the Army National Guard. I am finishing up my vocational technology course in Automotive Service, and I wanted to apply what I've learned. I plan to enroll in college in January to knock out my basics and focus on Criminal Justice, eventually getting my masters. The University of Central Oklahoma seems to have a well developed Criminal Justice course and I've been looking into it lately. Upon completion, I plan to apply for the Police Academy, and upon completion of that, the Oklahoma City Police Department. If I am not hired (reasonably considering my marijuana usage in High School,) I'll continue my service in the Army National Guard and apply for OCS.
That about sums it up for me. I know it's a long read, but it's always nice to know where someone's coming from. Thank you for providing a forum where we can obtain advice and information, and since there's enough information on here for just about anyone, I doubt I'll have any need to post my questions. Thank you for your time.
