    Saying hello from Eastern Washington

    Hello guys, I happened on to this forum trying to learn more about law enforcement life. I am a geology student in the Univ. but I have always wanted to be a cop. I come from a family of academics so I have felt pressure to be a academic or more. ( Lots of Pharmacists in my family).

    So I did some applications earlier last year and was almost offered a job (recruiter basically said that I just had to show up at the 2nd oral board). but I really wanted to finish my degree and I was worried that I was enamoured with the idea of changing the world through police work. But I am nearing graduation now, and I am not at all intrested in pursuing graduate work in Geology. I REALLY want to work in law enforcement. That is all I can think about for an occupation. I have spent most the night reading posts on this board and am hoping that I can get more then just a ride along to give me some info on police work. I have been on a few ride alongs and I liked it. I just wonder if I can truely know what it is like without actually doing patrol? Well I will get stop blowing hot air, and let you guys/gals tell me what you think.

    Hey, don't feel bad. I wanted to get more out of my money as well. That is why my Major is Chemistry, though I will probably go on to Graduate School. Just can't pass up someone else paying the tab. I wish you the best, and before I forget, Welcome.
