 Well to be honest at first I wasn't sure that I really wanted to post to this Forum, because of some harsh opinions that a few had posted to several threads I read. But after careful consideration I decided what the heck so here goes a quick intro about me:
I’m a former US Army SGT who served for almost 14 years who was badly injured During Operation Iraq Freedom, which caused me to have 8 titanium screws, 2 titanium rods, an “H” bracket, and 4 titanium discs inserted in to my lower back. After learning how to walk again my military career was over after the Army decided that they wanted a fast reaction deployable force and didn’t want to wait for me to heal.
Once I came back to Louisiana I was crushed about what happened, I was a 32 year old who was being considered as a crippled person (I have much respect for those who have to rely on assistance (walkers, etc), they suck I know I had to use one for 3 months). But this wasn’t the way I was going to go down. So even though I had more surgeries and nerve blocks done after I came home, I refused to be taken hostage by a disability.
With this in mind I began to work out, which increased my mobility greatly and I began to work again in the civilian workforce as a NDT Technician, which is a cool job but it is lacking what I miss, and that’s being able to serve our country in some form or fashion. I decided to become a Dallas Police Officer which my first tests are the weekend of January 20-22, 2005, which I got approval from the Doc to do this job. I think I got a real good chance; I was told I’d never walk or run again, and I can currently run 1 ½ mile in 15:21, I was told that I’d never do sit-ups again, and I can do roughly 50 in 2 minutes, I was told that told that I’d never lift weights again and I can. My point is regardless of what life has dealt me I Never Quit, Never Back Down, and I Don’t take No for an answer.
So with all things said; I hope that I can make many friends over the next few years here in this forum, while I’m on my mission to be the best Dallas Police Officer ever. And to those who want to trash my time on running, reps on sit-ups or anything about me, just remember one thing there are those who have fought and died for your freedom to express yourself in this great country of ours; and there are those of us who were injured fighting along the side those who never came back; and for the lucky ones there are those who made it home safely. And I'm not knocking anything that law enforcement or fire fighters do because they have got my respect holding down the home front.
I’m not looking for a shoulder to weep on, I’m just letting it be known that I’m not one who will back down from any man nor be intimidated by any man. If there are those members in this forum who claim they are perfect, they are not only lying to themselves but they are lying to everyone who reads these postings. Hopefully I haven’t offended anyone by my words and if so then you shouldn’t wear your heart on your sleeve. Again I look forward to communicating with many of you so take care and God Bless. :D
