I haven't posted here in awhile. Thought I would say Hi.

I am pursuing a career in Law Enforcement. Applying to as many police departments as I can. Along with trying to decide whether I should take my father up on his offer to pay my way through POST.

nothing wrong with pre service for post, especially if someone else is fronting the bill, lol, it makes you a better candidate through the hiring process b/c your already certified and the agency isnt going to have to front the money to send you through,

I would like to try to find an academy that will allow me to work and goto school (extended academy).

3bs I went to such an academy here. There wasn't one like it for 5 years previous to mine. I don't know where you are or where you're trying to work: but they do exist in some places. You'll just have to look hard to find them.

How do I enroll for Basic training?
A list of training institutions approved to present the POST-certified Regular Basic Course is provided in the Employment Data for California Law Enforcement or the Catalog of Certified Courses publications. From this list you may select the institution(s) of interest and contact the training presenter to obtain information on costs and enrollment. To accommodate different working schedules, the Regular Basic Course is presented in several formats. The Intensive Format is usually a Monday-Friday schedule and during normal working hours. The Extended Format is usually evenings and weekends. The course is also presented in a modular format. Completion of Reserve Level III, II, and I modules (in that order) is the equivalent of completing the Regular Basic Course.


Now I just need to find out what academies still do this

Yes I am still trying for the CHP but I do not want to just try for them. I am trying for other Police Departments. I know that the CHP has their own academy. So that is another reason why I haven't told my dad that I am going to accept his offer. I am trying to research and find more information on the Extended Academy.
