Informative.
I'm a mid-twenties Design Engineer (Linux) at a nice big corporation that pays great but has no stability =).
I hold a GED and a few college hours, as well as currently being enrolled in a few Criminal Justice courses (at the local community college). I should have about 15 hours of Criminal Justice courses at the end of next semester.
As my name says, I'm an ex police dispatcher. I wasn't in dispatch very long, but long enough to come to a full realization of what my calling in life is. I volunteered on a regular basis to partake in "Ride Alongs", as well as volunteering to work in the Records department typing and entering police reports and narratives into the database. I had always wanted to be a cop, and I feel that I'm ready to make that step in my life.
I smoked cigarettes for several years, after beginning my studies in the tech industry (around 17 or 18). I quit smoking about 9 days ago. My old smoke-break buddies ask me how I quit so easily. The answer rolls right off my tounge, I want to be a Police Officer, and I've got to get into shape. I had tried to quit before, but the realization that I can be a Police Officer _now_, gave me the motiviation to stop without a second thought. Sit Ups and Push Ups have also become a regular routine for me as well. Boy is my wife proud of me!
That pretty much sums up why I'm here.. I found this forum and absolutely appreciate the wealth of information provided here.
Thanks for the great site.
