Hello. My name is Sam and I'm currently taking up the steps to get into a career in some field of law enforcement that I haven't pinpointed yet. The one thing that I do know though is that it seems like a career choice that I would like to pursue. I've completed a year so far and have about 3 more years left for a Bachelor's degree. In my pursuit for a forum to join to discuss things of this nature, I came across this site and thought I would give it a shot. Well, I'll be browsing.

Welcome....I gotta say though, this is the first time I've seen "Homeland Security Student" If you said that 4 years and a week ago I probably would've thought you were: A. nuts, B. way too into George Orwell, C. some sort of wacked-out skinhead enforcer.
My how things have changed....what a crazy world we live (and work) in.

Thanks. And I agree completely. Back then it would've sounded like some whacked out degree. But now it seems to be pretty good. And the classes that I've had so far have covered tons of stuff that I haven't seen on the Criminal Justice program that will probably help later on when I actually get a job in some shape or form in law enforcement.
And 1984 wasn't that bad of a book, although it's starting to show similarities to the present time. I'll save that for another time though.

lol M19, and thanks everyone. Seems to be a good community from what I've been reading. Kinda wish I joined sooner with some of the topics that aren't worth bumping but were funny. Other than that, I'm out for a while. Have to write some things up on narcotics for my class tomarrow.

Good advice. And if all goes as planned, it shouldn't get messed up. I think that the first year would be the hardest and since I'm passed that hurdle it should be nothing more than studying and doing what I have to do. I was always told that it was good to have goals. And since I've started this trek, things have been better overall. It's just hard to keep in mind sometimes that what you hear from someone that's outside of the field that "some ******* cop gave me a ticket and they're all like that" that it probably happened due to that person's hostility or is justified otherwise. But then you realize, that with anything, theres always individuals who are really the minority in a career and make it appear as though the majority is that way when a action can't be justified.
