Heyas everyone,
Just wanted to say hello to all at RP. I really like this site. I recently was sworn in as an officer with the Bluffton police dept in Bluffton SC. I am very excited to be going back on the road. I was in the Marine Corps as a Military Police officer. I was there for 4 years and enjoyed the job very much. I would like to ask if anyone has any advice for a rookie? I know there are alot of similarities between Military Police and Civillian police but I know there are even more differences. Well I don't want this to be a run on post as I do alot of times. So any and all advice is much appreciated.

if you're certified from your state, and you've gone through the academy if you
have to: pm Switchback or Dc_law.

ahh ok....It will probably be a few months until I get sent to the academy. I can't wait to get it over with. I've been there once for Corrections (what Ive done since I've been out of the corps) and its the same Academy just a different course. Corrections is only 3 weeks whereas Basic Law is I believe 12 weeks (not sure) Lookin forward to getting verified.

Welcome to RP.
There is a BIG difference between the military and civilain PD. Consider yourself a sponge, wring out your military training for the most part and soak up how it is done in the outside world. When you have a good grasp on how things are done in a civilian PD, than you can merge your military background into your new job and everything will work out fine.
