please help

well in light of recent information i am in need of help again. i put an add in the newpaper looking for information. in the add i stated that my car had been keyed and that any annonomous help would be appreciated. a private investigator saw the add and took pity on me i guess. he ran the license plate and didnt charge me anything. i have the guys name and he lives suprisingly close to my girlfriend and nearly 1 and a half hours from me. i am now fairly sure that he wasnt following me he was following her. she doesnt seem to be too afraid because the crime rate where they live is very low, its a place where "nothing like that happens". i have his phone number and adress but now that i have the information i had wanted i dont know what to do about this. thank you all in advance for the help.

Keep you eye peeled for him the next time you go out with your girlfriend and document any sightings of him. What do you know about him? His age? Does his name ring a bell with your girlfriend or her family?

my girl friend says the name sounds vagely familiar, he is around 45, 25 year age difference from us. when my girlfriend saw hm she didnt recognize his face. if i see him again and i call the police what would be their course of action?

You may want to take your girlfriend to the police and ask about loal stalking laws. We need several things to happen for stalking to qualify. Once you know what the law requires you can start documenting it when it happens. Then you have criminal charges.

thanks to all of you that helped me, i finnaly have this taken care of. i found out a lot of info on the owner of the car (a business man and fellow car collector) and i decided that i needed to call him. i called him and he appologized for his behavoir. he explained that he was in fear that his son was involved in some illegal activity and he was trying to figure out what he was doing. he thought that my explorer was actually his sons and he was so appologetic it was unreal. he said that he had been pulled over after he followed us and was informed that we had called 911 and he said he wished he could have appologized then. but again, thank you all for the help

A 45 year old man can't determine that a Explorer he is following ISN'T his son's vehicle ? In this day and age of license plate numbers, bumper stickers , wheels, etc. it isn't very hard to pick out a specific vehicle ??!!
