    Hello from California Central Coast

    Hi - new here, and thought I would say hello.

    I am applying at the Salinas, CA PD. I am going to take the physical/written test in about 2 weeks.

    The only thing I am really concerned about it the amount of jobs I have had. It looks like I am a little flaky. I am 28, and most of my jobs I have only kept about a year. The reason I changed jobs so many times is because I was looking for something to I really wanted to do. (Never found something I was passionate about) Yet, I have been interested in being an LEO since I was a child, but never went through the process. Then, I got married, and my wife didn't like the idea. But now, she is supportive, and I have applied.

    I can't explain my passion for law enforcement, but it is deep within me. (Sounds strange, I know.) However, I can only hope that I will be hired. This is something that I really want.

    Welcome to RP! I found more information about police work on RP than anywhere else and it greatly aided in getting hired and is still a great resource for me in the profession.

    That is why I picked this department. I live 20 miles from Salinas, but they are a bigger and busier city. My physical/written assesment got moved up to this Thursday. Should be fun!

    Took the written test, and physical. Aced the physical, and got a "T-score" of 53.4. I need a 46 for Salinas, so that should do. Does anyone know if you get called for oral boards based on your T-score? And, what is the highest score you can get on it?

    Good luck with your interviews, good thing about changing jobs is the experience it gives you, can't get enough of it for LE work.

    It's been a short while, but I have a ride-along scheduled for Saturday night, and I got a call to come to an orientation next week. (Is this normal for all applicants, or just ones that "made the cut"?) The HR person told me the orientation is to let everyone to know about the process and to answer any questions. Looks like it will be a group thing.

    I don't know for sure, but it is most likely an overview of the hiring process and department.
