Hi, I happened to run across this board trying to find experiences of people applying to the Los Angeles Police Department and have found it to be very informative.
I'm a 24 year old male, 3 year U.S. Army Ranger vet, and I'm currently finishing up my associates degree in criminal justice. Words can't describe how motivated I am to become a police officer, especially with the LAPD. I've been wanting to be a police officer as far back as I can remember and I'm motivated and ready to prove my worth to the LAPD.
I know applying for the LAPD is a challenge, but Los Angeles is the city I grew up in most of my life and she's my responsiblity. My written exam is this tuesday and I'm hoping the oral prep class this Wednesday will help me even more.
Any advice you can give this motivated young man will be greatly appreciated and if there are any ex-Rangers out there on any So Cal PDs feel free to contact me!

Welcome to RP, Dan!!! Just keep your focus that you have now, study hard in the Academy and ignore any peer pressure, make your Code of Ethics the most important thing about being a Police Officer and never forget it because ultimately, it's your main goal. Once you put on the uniform, all the gear and the gun belt, don't change but focus on your main goal- those things don't make you more important, they make the world around you more important.
