But, to answer your question a little, at first glance, your qualifications would appear to make you competitive for most federal Special Agent jobs. There are a lot of hurdles to overcome after being basically qualified, though.
Another thing is that application times of one to two years are the norm for most series 1811 (Criminal Investigator) jobs, which is the actual job title of a Special Agent under OPM rules.
The best thing is to do some quick research. Don't sell yourself short. You are probably qualified for a better job than you think you are. I've been hired, and worked for, two of the largest federal agencies, and both times, I was a little surprised I made the grade.
There were a lot of former military people with backgrounds very similiar to yours in both of my academey classes. I hate to hawk another site, but 911jobs.com is a site basically dedicated to helping people find state, local, and federal law enforcement jobs. I have to admit that some of the applicants for my agency seem to be more up on the minor details of our application process than I am, and I am serve on our new applicant interview panel.
Be advised as well, that most federal agencies have web sites that offer detailed information on qualifications necessary for the job. Go look around some, and come back with more specific questions, and we can give you more specific answers. Good luck.
