Finally getting around to this, I keep heading for chat instead.
I'm a Boat patrol officer with the City of Austin, I have three lakes as an area of responsibility, the largest being 26 miles long. (Yes, Texas has lakes) Since they are all within the city limits, boat traffic resembles an interstate at times. My job bears a very close resemblance to a combination DWI unit and collision investigator, only wetter. My patrol unit is a 23ft center console Osprey with a 225 HP Johnson. A salt water fishing boat converted to Police use by adding a radio, light bar, and rifle rack. The city supplies sunblock. It's a year round patrol position, we rarely have anything that could be called winter.
Been an officer for one agency or another since 1983, so you might say this is a retirement post, although a very busy and enjoyable one.
My main interests are boating. (Off duty) fishing, shooting and gun collecting, followed by more fishing. My main reason for coming on this board is the firearms forums, and apparently the chat room as well.

welcome to the site. sounds like the boat patrol would be a nice assignment. hope you enjoy your stay here in rpland, there are some awesome people around. now that I have that out of the way, I can't stand it, gotta ask my usual question...hope you don't mind, but I was wondering if it would be possible to con you out of a department patch ?
