Howdy!
I've been posting here for a while and just now made it to this page.
I moved to NYC 2 years ago to pursue my acting career. It was actually going very well until the cruel PR people at the NYPD felt it necessary to advertise their upcoming entrance exam on my subway line.
I thought, "hmmm, that would be kind of cool, oh, here is my stop."
So I went to bed thinking that I'd get up the next morning totally focused on my upcoming auditions, etc. Nope! Got up thinking about a career with the NYPD. Thought about it all day long, and then thought once again, as I laid my head down for the evening, I'll be focused on acting tomorrow.
I got up with the NYPD on my mind once again. I guess this is what is referred to as a "calling."
So, after leaving a good paying job back in Oklahoma, moving my wife and 1-year old across the coutry with only enough money to pay the rent for one month, setting up shop in NYC, establishing a good acting career, I wound up submitting my application to the NYPD.
I'm 29 with a Bachelor's degree in Communications, walking away from a nice theatre career, and running my a$$ off every day and doing push-ups in an attempt to join NYPDs finest. Because, as you know, there is such a shortage of Irish Catholic cops in the NYPD :D .
Life sure is interesting.
Favorite Bands: U2, Radiohead, Led Zepp
Hobbies: Bass Guitar, writing, fantasy football
Favorite Shakespeare Play: King Lear
Favorite TV shows: The Simpsons, and COPS (avid watcher from its debut)
NYPD Goal: We'll see what happens, but the SVU would be interesting, as well as the Highway Patrol. Have to pass that written test first, though.
